Harbir Singh is an Osteopath, Author, Clinical Educator, Former Thai Boxer and a Health Writer for Sikhnet. We asked him a few questions about his business, lets see what he has to say.
1) What made you want to start your own business?
I started my own business as I wanted to be the archetect of my own destiny and believe that anything is possible with hard work and consistency.
2) How did you come up with your idea?
I came up with the idea after a family tragedy and after trialling a success minimum viable product, I dedicated myself to the business.
3) What’s been the toughest part of the journey?
Consistency. I put content out on social media everyday and contact my clients everyday: that level of interaction takes up alot of time, of every single day.
4) What are your fears?
My fears are that my community continues to sink into poor health due to poor lifestyle choices and miseducation. I also fear missed opportunties, not being able to do as much as I would like to do because of time constraints.
5) What are your hopes?
My hopes are that I can become a household names in the worldwide Sikh community, that I can inspire positive change in relation to the health and that I make my son proud.
6) How did you come up with your business plan?
My business plan was created by thinking up my ideal job and working pattern and working forwards from there.
7) How have you financed the business?
I financed the business with a part time job in the NHS.
8) What do your family and friends think of it?
My family think I am crazy, my friends are (mostly) supportive.
9) What sacrifices have you had to make to get to where you are right now?
I have to be selective of how I use my time. I have striped life down to the bare basics and other than working on my health, spending time with my son and working, there’s little time for anything else.
10) What are you proud of?
I’m proud of my results. I feel proud when I see someones health transform and feel proud and honoured to be a part of that process.
11) What are your tips for anyone wanting to start a business?
I would stay you need 2 things. Hard work and consistency. If you work hard over a long enough period of time, you will see the results.
12) What business advice could you share with the viewers?
I would recommend reading and running everyday. If you read a book related to your speciality within a year you will have read over 50+ books in your field, making you one of a few people to have such extensive knowledge in your chosen area. Secondly running (or any of form of exercise) will keep you healthy which will allow your mind to stay sharp and give you the energy you need to success in business.
